Ingredients
  1. For the cottage cheese mixture
  2. 1 cup low fat paneer (cottage cheese)
  3. 4 tsp sugar
  4. 4 tbsp low fat milk
  5. a few strands of saffron (kesar) strands
  6. For the fruit filling
  7. 1 cup apples, sliced
  8. 4 tsp brown sugar
  9. 1/4 tsp nutmeg (jaiphal) powder
  10. a few drops lemon juice
Method
  • For the cottage cheese mixture
  • Dissolve the saffron in the milk and keep aside
  • Blend together all the ingredients in a blender to a smooth paste. Keep aside.
  • For the fruit filling
  • Mix together all the ingredients and keep aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Squeeze out all the water and arrange the fruit in a greased 150 mm. (6") diameter pie dish.
  • How to proceed
  • Spread the cottage cheese mixture over the fruit and bake in a pre-heated oven at 220°C (440°F) for 15 minutes.
  • Serve warm.
