The Sindh province of modern-day Pakistan is noted for Shikrarpuri achaar and Hyderabadi achaar. Both of these Achaar is frequently eaten in Pakistan and abroad. Shikrarpuri achaar is believed to have originated during the 1600s in medieval India. The most popular of all the varieties of Shikarpur’s pickle is the mixed achaar comprising carrots, turnips, onions, cauliflower, chickpeas, garlic, green chilies, lime, and mango. Keri ka Achaar is another one to hit the zenith of taste. Keri (raw mangoes) which is only available in summers are marinated with many spices and left in the exposure of sunlight to mature. As the slices of Keri soften in the spiced oil, the Achaar takes its form.
