Government paying special focus on promotion of sports: PM

Prime Minister Imran Khan says the government is paying special focus on promotion of sports in the country and ensuring meritocracy in selection of players.

Talking to SAPM Usman Dar, Aqib Javed and Rana Atif of Lahore Qalandar, and cricketer Shaheen Afridi in Islamabad today [Thursday], he said that 68 percent of country's population comprises youth and providing them opportunities to demonstrate their talent is amongst the top priorities of the government.

The meeting discussed the success of the successful youth sports drive in the country and the consequent opportunities for the youth to express their potential in various sports.

The Prime Minister was apprised about the participation of successful and emerging cricketers in the upcoming Pakistan Super League as a result of the Talent Hunt Program in collaboration with Lahore Qalandar and Kamyab Jawan Program.

The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of Lahore Qalandar and Kamyab Youth Program.

He also lauded the performance of cricketer Shaheen Shah Afridi in the World Cup and urged him to continue his positive role in Pakistani cricket with more diligence and hard work.
