Over the years Club Caramel, which first made headlines through its self-organised, country-wide concerts, has created its own unique identity. Comprising of the dynamic duo Adnan Sarwar and Kiran Chaudhry, the band has amped up the music scene with their covers and unconventional musical blends. Though the band’s casual and fun approach towards music urges them to try new things, it seems that the band’s loyalties largely lie with romantic themes.

“Our new track is all about love,” exclaims Chaudhry, the singer of “Deewana”. “It’s about falling in love and all the different stages associated with this concept including heartbreak. Ultimately love is the only thing worth writing and singing about. This emotion is as personal as music.”

Much like the bands previous releases such as “Zindagi” and “Teray Bin”, “Deewana” has a young feel about it and is backed with light melody and acoustic guitar rifts. The song was produced in Jamal Rahman’s TrueBrew Recording Studio in Lahore and has Asif Goga on percussions, Fahad Khan on drums and Sameer Ahmed on bass guitars.

Since “Deewana” is about affection, it has the potential to make a connection with every listener as everyone is familiar with the feeling Club Caramel’s song talks about. Even though love sounds like the easiest and the most common thing to sing about, the band stays adamant that just because they are focusing on romantic songs it doesn’t mean they can’t be creative and it doesn’t mean they are not willing to experiment with the pop-rock genre. “Our music changes with each song because I feel like we are telling a story and so we aren’t limited to a genre,” says Chaudhry. “Each song that we have done so far has been about different kinds of love. ‘Teray Bin’ was more about the destructive side of love, this song (‘Deewana’) is the next phase where you have lost love, you went through the heartbreak alone and now you have found love for a second time.”

The band’s personal growth over the last two songs has been interesting. Sarwar has proved his prowess as a songwriter in their new song. Sarwar explains that “Deewana” was written in one night and was something that just happened. “This song was composed and written overnight but we knew immediately that this one was the one,” says Sarwar who plays the acoustic guitars and is directing the video for the single as well. “Whenever anyone asks me that what inspired me to write this song, I just tell them this is the soundtrack of my life.”
