Into The Wild – Explore The Beauty Of Rama Meadows

Situated near Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan, Rama Valley is considered as one of the most beautiful valleys in Pakistan. Featuring flowing green meadows, striking trees and blooms, a pristine lake, mountain vistas and a tranquil ambiance, you will find Rama Meadows to be a picture perfect destination.
 


As it is about 3300 meters (10800 feet) above sea level, most of the year it is covered with a blanket of snow. Only in summer time, the valley shows its true beauty. From Rama Meadows, you can trek to east side of the Nanga Parbat (the Killer Mountain), which is the world’s 8th highest mountain.

The valley is flourishing with huge pine, cedar, fir and juniper trees. However, due to recent deforestation, there has been a large loss of forest area.

Alpine forests dominate the area. A large number of evergreen plants are native to Rama Meadows.

In summer, the valley turns green making it a superb spot for picnics and sightseeing.
 


 

Rama Lake is approximately nine kilometers away from the valley of Astore.

The wilderness, a lovely ice-cold lake and fresh breeze can awaken anyone’s senses.

The meadows currently has two motels; one recently constructed by PTDC and the other by the Forest department.

From here, hikers and mountaineers can find many treks and routes leading to the Killer Mountain.
