A victim of Society

A Victim of society.

Like every other girl I wanted to be a doctor too, so after my FSC, I applied for different medical colleges but I couldn’t get any merit seat.

It felt like the end of the world. I was completely shattered. I can still feel that pain when I think about it. I couldn’t go out for like 1 whole week. I was disappointed with myself. It was hard to see all my friends wearing that white coat and I? I was there trying to recover from a broken dream. My family helped me out and soon I was up discussing about the degrees I could enrolled in. With my father’s guidance I got admission in English Literature.

I found it difficult to accept my degree as it was a complete different stream for a Pre-Medical student. There were times when I didn’t want to go to university at all. I wanted to cry and yell right there in front of my English teacher. But I controlled and survived through dreadful 1st semester. And then came the 2nd semester. I opened up. I convinced myself to come out of my shell and when I came out of my comfort zone, I witnessed a complete new world. It was different. Quite interesting and adventurous. I talked to my classmates, made lots of friends, attended seminars and realized that I, myself, was torturing me. I wasn’t letting myself to see this new arena but when I did, I loved it.

This is a “doctor and engineer dominated” society and if you’re not a medical or engineering student then this society will leave no stone unturned to make your life miserable. People around you will make sure to make you feel useless. They will push you to the point where you will start questioning your ability and even your existence. In any get together aunties will not stop for even a single second to brag about their doctor daughters. There will come a time when you feel like you have reached rock bottom.

I have suffered a painful phase because of the parochial society we are living in. There are many youngsters like me who have been suffering from this enigma since the very start. First of all, I want to tell all of them who have no interest in Medical or Engineering and want to put their lives on different line that it is up to you how you frame your future. Stay strong and believe in yourself.

Second of all, Accept the change. Accept the failure. If you will know how to accept failure, only then you would be able to enjoy the fruit of hard work. Only then you would be able to know what “success” is. Life is nothing but the amalgamation of success and failure. To live we have to accept both of them. Do not traumatize yourself. Set a goal and work for it.

Everyone has the power to do wonders, it is just the matter of scope and support they get. Please world, don’t compare two individuals. Everyone is capable of different things. Everyone is unique and special in their own way. Some can heal, some can construct, some can create and some can build. Please don’t try to stuff young heads with the things they are not interested in. No matter what the society says or how tough the competition becomes, be the kind of guardian a child can dream of. Don’t make them to run in the audacious endless race where no one is ready to come second. Where no one is ready to accept his defeat. Guide them, enlighten them, be the beacon of light but please, don’t force them. Let them unleash their abilities. LET THEM BREATH. LET THEM GROW. LET THEM LIVE.
