Smoking in Pakistan – A Dangerous Habit

Smoking is a very bad habit, which is extremely injurious to health. It affects lungs and heart; chain smokers are particularly at risk for heart disease, lung cancer etc. Professor Dr. Javed Khan told recently that every year more than five million people die due to smoking related illnesses. According to a research, Pakistani youth between the ages of 18 and 23, regularly smokes. Another report suggests that approximately one person around the world, dies every second because of smoking. Renowned psychiatrists Dr Syed Mubeen Akhtar stated that over 200 million spend approximately 50 million dollars on smoking every year.

The international Healthcare community should take serious notice of this situation and create awareness about dangers of smoking through seminars and other means.
