Counterfeited Software

In every well developed city of our country, counterfeited and pirated software (OS, Development suites or packages) with almost all the international software companies (particularly Microsoft) are sold in the local shops. CD shopkeeper sale software, taking 30 rupees for one CD (containing software in deploy-able format).

Even from the International companies, the member of UNO and Interpol has not taken the serious actions against the counterfeiters and the piracy. It seems that we the Pakistani Nation has to remind the Government about the Ordinance and the copyright act about the International companies, their intellectual property rights and the financial factor which is the another root cause of the terrorism and unemployment in our country. Actual war begins right form this time. South East Nations have paid a huge amount to meet the challenge.

Recently The Interior Minister, Ministry of Interior Pakistan Mr. Rehman Malik said in one of his statements that the violators are taking breath in our systems. It’s very self conflicting statement and making the people pathetic over and over, again and again, and for how many decades?

It seems that only the Army Men can cope with these things. It’s a fact that the history of Pakistan shows it. Pakistan took a great step towards the security, by taking the membership in Interpol. The root sources and potentials of the disgrace, vanity and conceit against the IT professionals had been counterfeiting and the piracy of the software in the past decade.

The Minister of the Ministry of Information and Technology Dr. Atta-Ur-Rahaman was very serious with his moral duties but now it seems that no one has take any kind of serious action against the counterfeiting and the piracy of the software in Pakistan. Police Actions during years 2000-2001 in Pakistan are still the proofs for the self respect, integrity and the dignity of the Nation.

The Country and the economic state:-
Deteriorating economically:
It’s the matter of the software development profession and the lawful and legal livelihood of the young generation. A survey must be carried out very seriously, to gather the facts and figures (statistics) about the counterfeiters, counterfeited software used in our country. The Export of the Software and the revenue from the export of the software is a very important thing in the economic and financial status of a country. The Bureau of the Statistics must carry six surveys for fact finding of the counterfeiters and the counterfeited software which are being used today.

It’s reducing the number of software and the software exporters in Pakistan. It’s a matter in between a Justice and a rebellion. The fortune and the fate of the people are relying on the security, sustainability and reliability of the software, industry, commerce, and export.

The institutions are working with trial software; students are depressed with the pathetic condition of their institutions.

The weak Industry of Computers and the threats of demolishing of the education commission started right from the counterfeiting piracy and the violations cross the borders of our country. What is the solution provided during the past four Governments and this Government for the last four years? If the counterfeiting is reported to the investigation agency, no positive reply is received, so far as I have experienced with the FIA reporting on the emails. Microsoft took the notice but ended with just sending mail for the complementary software. Not everyone is a victim. People sometime just trust on the company, dealer, administrator or the usage facilitation. If there is a betrayal behind the scene then the Law enforcement should or must enforce constraints by force and determination.
