God made technology predestined for mankind in 20th century as a supporting facilitation rather than a drifting element and there have been numerous advancements to help us in our everyday lives. The utilization of mobile phones is so prevalent an as we live in a consumption society, we like to spend more without considering the disadvantages. However, do we realize that cellphones are the most annoying, unnecessary and time wasting device of the last fifty years?

Most find people it cool and sophisticated to carry mobile phones along but they are no doubt, annoying. For instance, you are fully engrossed in a movie and all out of a sudden your cellphone rings like thunder, breaking the tempo. Similar is the case when you are attending an important meeting or a class and are interrupted by a cell’s ring! As far as calls are concerned, there are a number of payphones available that only charge a few rupees for a local call. This benefits both, the caller being provided with cheap communication while the shop owner earns a living. Moreover there are a variety of wireless phones available running on the same technology as cellphones.

Many people believe that cellphones help us to keep in contact with friends and family, thus building strong bonds. However, in reality, it creates distances between people as you can easily talk to others without any need to meet them. Mobile phones also have music, video/audio player, android applications built in them, although these things are entertaining, they are a way of wasting time and often result in cell addiction among the users. People are indulged in long conversations or texting over their phones, in turn wasting time which could have been utilized positively as on studies. Mobile phones also have built in cameras which have recently resulted in selfie addiction making people more prone towards narcotics, as discovered by researchers. The same function can be done with latest digital cameras with much better results and features.

This implies that a mobile phone is just an ostentatious device that possesses diverse functions that are not of our use. Furthermore, they transmit electromagnetic radiation that can cause cancer while people carry them so close to their bodies. As a result researchers have proved it harmful for health. In addition to this many people die every day in car accidents simply because they use cell phones while driving. According to research cellphones put drivers at four time’s greater risk of crash. Despite the danger, people think that answering a call is more important than safety!

To conclude, mobile phones destroy the tranquility and peace we are blessed with. Their increasing popularity means more drawbacks are to be discovered and more people are to become useless!
