Education: Rich VS Poor

(Muhammad Affan Ahmed, Multan)

Remember the moral: Simplicity brings courage while jauntiness brings fragility! The poor, simple and straight forward fellows are the zealous and enthusiastic rough and tough creatures, the path of whom is blocked by the tougher financial wall. We keep on bringing the fragile parrots up which after being well polished, fly away and leave our orbit forever! Why this foolery? Why not we break the walls of the zealous and faithful creatures?

The higher education in Pakistan should not be underestimated by the way. But the problem is, only the elite class can acquire the top standard education. Moreover, such people do not remain here in Pakistan, rather they travel abroad and often never come back. What do they give their country in return? Nothing, absolutely no favor. It’s because they lack the real spirit, enthusiasm, zeal and passion to serve their nation but are full of profligacy and selfishness instead. They just think about themselves only. On the other hand, those who lack resources monetarily are more the doers! The eager beavers! Those who had been watching the rich with wistful longings despite of having equal or even more qualities than the rich. Struggling even harder than the rich, they go through numerous redemptions. But what a pity! Still they cannot use their peculiar skills for their nation. Who will break the financial wall which block their way and does not let them reach the giddy heights of the climax?

As far as early academic career is concerned, there is no comparison between rich and poor students because the rich gain luxurious and quite a helping environment while the poor hardly makes both end meet to continue his boring, dry and pitiful classes. How can they compete with the landlords? Those who study in Beacon House or some other big educational projects or institutes. Surely there is no comparison.

The helping books, notes, extra tuitions, academies are only for the moneyed. Moreover, good and experienced teachers also join standard and paying institutes. Nothing remains left for the deprived! He is to face all the hardships alone! How long will he come up with his own efforts, his own blood! No matter if he burns the midnight oil, he cannot easily beat the sleeping elites, alas! Why this injustice? A rich position holder and a poor one may have similar rank, but as far as the real justice is concerned, the poor position holder is superior over the rich one due to the more labor, struggle and consumption.

Similarly higher education institution like GIKI and some others are also meant only for the well-heeled. Universities like PIEAS, NUST, FAST are also unaffordable for the moderate class. If we keenly observe, we see that the merit on the base of which universities select the students is not only concerned with the academic performance of the applicant, but the monetary values are also involved indirectly. Because the students studying in quality educational institutes have an opulent academic performance. They win the attraction of the universities while the meager is left crying upon his luck! This is the problem I am facing personally now-a-days.

What to do now? Elites leave the country after becoming a super man. The destitute are unable to step forward in the race due to the blocking financial wall. Thus no net advantage offered to the nation. I encourage the Punjab Educational Endowment Funds to keep the struggle up and also the universities which provide sufficient financial support are admirable. I encourage the NOP program of Lahore University of Management Sciences which introduce on the stage the ones who were once behind the eight ball. I suggest to initiate more such programs and organizations and encourage them to step forward and perform their duty. I am mindful of the intensity of the revolution it will bring. Break the walls! Let the zealous creatures have a way! Do something for this nation.
All the best!
