Education is a fundamental human right and every child is entitled to it. It is critical to our development as individuals and as societies, and it helps cover the way to a successful and productive future.

Article 25-A of Constitution Of Pakistan says that, “The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of five to sixteen years in such manner as may be determined by law.”

Unfortunately, Education is one of the deprived fields of country and unable to get due attention by past governments. The literacy rate of the country is between the 50% to 56 %, in which 69% of male and 43% are female. These literacy rate figures shows the poor condition of education in the country. In terms of literacy rate Pakistan is ranked in 186th number in the world. Pakistan is counted in those 8 countries in the world where only 2% to 4% budget is spent in education.

At present, the education sector is facing deep crisis in our country. According to a report there is lack of professors in Punjab , In government colleges there are no teachers on 4906 vacancies.

Beside this, according to the recent report of UNICEF over 6.5 million children are not enrolled in primary education and another 2.7 are not enrolled at lower secondary level. The study confirms that more girls than boys are out of school - 38.9% of primary age girls are not attending school, the rate is 30.2% for boys. Children from poorer households are proportionally more out of school – 49.2% compared to 17.5% in richest quintile. Dropout is highest in the grade 5 (42.8%) indicating that many children do not transition to lower secondary education and therefore do not complete basic education.

The situation is becoming more critical in the country. Government and Private both should sit together and draft a master plan for right education and then government should follow this plan sincerely. The government should concentrate on government schools on which major portion of population is dependent. The government and other political parties should sit together and come out from war of words. They should take radical steps for solution of crises .There must be education emergency in this country, otherwise it will have worst situation in future.
