“Friendship is an art and very few persons are born with a natural gift for it.” Kathleen Norris
Since the commencement of life humans have been bound with different relations. These relations may be very near and dear to them. But the relation whom one prefers to all and in which he/she believes blindly is friendship. Friendship is the divine feeling or relationship between two or among several friends. It is stronger than any other relation which one keeps with the other.
.
Friendship is simply a sensitive relationship dependent on feelings, sharing and understanding. It’s not ordinary social or official affair among people but the feelings and care based on mutual trust, affection and support. Friendship does not mean that anybody of the world having good talking terms with us is our friend. A true friend is very difficult to meet and true friendship is considered one of the greatest blessings by the Creator.

Friendship is of different kinds at different levels of age. Childhood friendship is a golden and unforgettable period of one’s life. In childhood, friendship is usually based on the sharing of toys, and the enjoyment received from performing activities together. It is a creative playtime of life. As children don’t have any further source of keeping friendship therefore they share their toys and play together. Once they share their toys with someone they consider him their friend. As children mature, they become less individualized and more aware of others. They begin to see their friends' points of view, and enjoy themselves playing in groups. In this age they fight with one another on petty matters but for a while. Childhood friendship also becomes very strong and their agreements after the little disputes make this relation more effective.

It has been human’s nature since their creation that they want to see changing in their surroundings when they become adult. That’s why many people after being young find some other friends and try to neglect their past. Friendship in adulthood generally becomes full of amusement. Young friends advise and support one another in everyday life. However in this age, one has great opportunities to find so many friends and keep friendship with rich families but on the other hand this age makes one join bad company too. As this period of age is full of craze so an adult person easily victims to unethical and illicit activities. This craze makes a person the follower of his/her friends and one does whatever directed by the friends. On account of this great zeal one doesn’t pay attention towards one’s parents and guardians.

Friendship also proves to be great beneficial in old age. As soon as family responsibilities and vocational pressures become less, friendship becomes more important. An old person extremely needs a friend with whom old thoughts can be shared. Friendship in old age becomes stronger as well as more trust worthy than that of adulthood. Old friends lead their lives by dint of one another and encourage one another like they would do in their childhood. Old people like keeping friendship with children and they enjoy themselves sharing their memorable past with them.

“Be careful about who you trust and tell your problems to. Not everyone who smiles at you is your friend.”

Benefit and necessity of friendship is innumerable. No doubt, friendship is of the utmost importance in one’s life but one should always be careful of what type of company one is going to join. Sometimes relationship can be established for earthly benefits but that is not really considered friendship. A real friendship does not aim any worldly interest rather spiritual and based on share and care among friends. We may have thousands of namely friends but the real friends are those who stand by us in our trouble. Many pretend to be friend and terminate friendship as soon as their interests are fulfilled.

We need companion in order to live and good friends are one of the best companions because they do not let us meet with the difficulties and give us an opportunity to share our thoughts freely. Friendship is undoubtedly a heavenly thing. Life is colourless and slow without a friend. Though real friends are not easy to find yet a real friendship with a good person is a precious gift that can be a great support for lifetime.

Finally, I want to dedicate this essay/article/paragraph or whatever you name it, to my all friends especially to my childhood friends.
