Peace is an occurrence of
harmony characterized by the lack of aggression, conflict behaviors and the
freedom from the fear of violence. The universal meaning of peace is defined as
a state that provides inner satisfaction which positively affects the outside
environment. According to Wikipedia, peace is commonly understood as the absence
of hostility and retribution. It is the existence of healthy or newly healed
interpersonal or international relationships, prosperity in matters of social or
economic welfare, the establishment of equality and a working political order
that serves the true interests of all. However, peace is necessary for every
nation and every country to develop socially as well as politically. Absence of
peace is a world-wide problem. Pakistan has also been facing the same problem
for a long time. Our country Pakistan came into being in 1947 by dint of great
struggle of the Muslims who wanted a separate homeland where they could live
independently and become one of the most developed nations. In this regard, they
sacrificed their lives, wealth, fruitful- lands, etc.
It is a fact that after the creation of Pakistan, we have developed in many
fields such as: nuclear developments, educational developments, technological
and agricultural developments. Despite all, Pakistan has completely failed to
maintain peace in the country. The Pakistanis have been thirsty of watching a
peaceful environment since the time of establishment. Fortunately our dear
homeland was established in the name of Islam but unfortunately soon after its
creation we left all the Islamic and the Quranic laws back. We began governing
the country in accordance with our own wish and will. As soon as we began to go
against the Islamic rules and some great leaders who always stood against the
enemy, our sufferings and miseries started. That’s why since that time we have
not been able to restore the peace in Pakistan. Lacks of innocent people have
been killed in cold blood. Mobile phones, motor-bikes and cash are snatched from
the people on the gun point. Protests and shutter down strikes have become
normal daily events in Pakistan. Moreover our schools, colleges and hospitals
are suffering from the same issue for a long time. The innocent children are
being killed in the schools. Our doctors are gunned down in the hospitals. It
means none of our social institutes is safe now a days. The political and
religious leaders are not secure too. Many great and sincere leaders have been
targeted by a bullet but none of highly authorized government personalities has
ever taken any step to overcome the situation in the country. Terrorism has
become a hard nut to crack in our country. It has completely made the life full
of hurries and worries. Many people have kicked the bucket in the war of
terrorism. The current circumstances have made the life horrible. Man never
considered himself so insecure as he does today. Therefore it would not be wrong
to say that terrorism has really made peace a dream for the Pakistanis. Although
Pakistan is a democratic country, people are deprived of peace. Pakistan had not
come to such critical, serious and dangerous situation if we would not have
acted against the Islamic laws and Shariah. We all know very well that democracy
is a good type of government. In spite of having democracy, the Pakistanis are
unable to watch peace in the country. Their fundamental rights are neglected. No
doubt, in democracy people elect the leader whom they like most and consider
him/her the most favorable person for their homeland but it is also true that
after the elections, the elected leaders fulfill their people’s requirements and
they try to prove themselves as good as they can. But in Pakistan it is
different from that. There is a huge difference between the democracy in
Pakistan and the democracy in other developed countries. Here the elections are
held on the fixed time. The candidates canvass in the streets, towns, villages
and in different cities in order to impress the people. People cast votes in
favor of their favorite candidates. When the elections come over and results are
announced, the same people stay in queue and rows to meet the same person who
now has become an MNA/MPA. But now the elected person has no time to listen to
the needs and requirements of those people whose votes have brought him/her on
the floor of parliament.
Where it is necessary to discuss the present situation of Pakistan, there it is
also very important to have a glance at the causes behind it. The first major
reason of disturbance of peace in Pakistan is, the absence of justice. If a
person meets with a case and by chance he/she has to go to the court in order to
get the justice, his/her hair would turn from black into white but the person
cannot get the justice. The case is ignored in such a way that nothing has ever
been done. The rules and laws for the rich are different from those of the poor.
Another problem which has been a burning question in Pakistan is sectarianism.
Sectarianism creates a grudge or enmity among the people. On account of the
religious enmity a cold war breaks out. People belonging to different sects
oppose one another. Different families have been ruined and many children have
been made orphans in the war of sectarianism. It is an unfortunate for the
Muslims that they are killing one another in the name of Islam. Bombs are
blasted in the religious public meetings which result bloodshed. People take out
processions and call strikes which cause not only the backwardness of business,
marketing and economy but also they disturb the peace of the country.

It is high time the authorities concerned thought about to restore the peace in
Pakistan. In this regard the government of Pakistan and other authorities are
requested to take strict measures to eradicate terrorism and all the other
maladies from the country. Law and order situation should be improved. The laws
must be same for all and free from the caste and colour system. I also ask the
Muslims to follow the Islamic laws, Shariah and not to create sects. We ought to
follow the right path and lead our lives according to the Holy Quran and the
Sunnah. Islam is the only religion of peace and a way to be developed. Unless we
bring the Islamic laws into practice, we cannot progress.
