Coke Studio and Global effect

Coke studio is Pakistani music series started from 7th June 2008. In which various singers and musician from all over Pakistan gave their live performance. This program is produced by Rohail Hyatt and his wife Umber Hyatt, with accumulation of Coca-Cola Company. The program focuses on a fusion of the diverse musical influences in Pakistan, including eastern classical, folk, qawwali, bhangra, Sufi and contemporary hip hop, rock and pop music.

History

The term Coke Studio is taken by Brazilian term Coca Cola Studio or Coke Zero Studio. In Brazil an advertising Company did campaign for Coca Cola with help of Nokia. Coca Cola Zero offers Coca Cola taste with low calories, and to build their relationship with youth they launched Coca-Cola Studio. They worked with Nokia and created Coke Zero-branded Nokia 5310 device for the publicity of their brands with the idea of music.

Coke Studio in Pakistan
The idea of Coke Studio is not as same as in Brazil Coca-Cola Studio or Coca Cola zero. They mix up two brands Coca-Cola & Nokia, but Coke Studio is mix up of different national and international music. Five seasons of Coke Studio have been done regarding this music program in which many popular Singers and artist take part.

Coke Studio is not only popular in Pakistan, it has become popular internationally. The director of integrated marketing communications at Coca Cola India, Wasim Basir said,“In no time, Coke Studio Pakistan had taken over the Indian market. “We had conducted research in 2010 which revealed that 25% of all Google searches in India were for Coke Studio Pakistan, this was amazing.”

Coke studio is developed form of Pakistani music industry, which introduces Pakistani artist in a different way in which they were never seen before.

Sixth Season

After the brilliant success of 5 seasons Coke Studio now proudly started 6th season of Cock Studio from October. This years' Coke Studio voyage is a fusion of Eastern, Western and regionally inspired music for which the platform has come to be renowned. In Season 6 Pakistani talent is joined by internationally trained musicians in both traditional and contemporary instruments from Italy, Morocco, Nepal, Norway, Pakistan, Serbia and Turkey. Cock Studio invited international artists to promote this season over the globe.

The Coke Studio house band for Season 6 features Asad Ahmed on guitar, Babar Ali Khanna on dholak, Jaffer Zaidi on keyboards, Kamran ‘Mannu’ Zafar on bass, Louis ‘Gumby’ Pinto on drums, Sikandar Mufti on percussions and drums, Omran Shafique on guitar and Zoe Viccaji and Rachel Viccaji on backing vocals. And many well knowned Singers are also taking part in Cock Studio. Season six is also a mixture of different languages but at the same time it is the combination of international Music and traditional Music of Pakistan.

Song Laili Jaan is in Dari & Persian sung by Zeb and Haniya. This song has a touch of Afghan Pop which is considered as king of Afghan music. This Song also represents our traditional story of Laila & Majno. This song is about the classical heart break. With a beautiful mixture, being in love and bear the sorrow of heartbreak.

And song Rabba ho Sung by Saeen Zahoor & Sanam Marvi is in Punjabi and Persian language. The song presents a mix of elements sprinkling influences from Nepal, Morocco and Bangladesh. This is a folk Song having a little touch of the poetry of Suchchal Sarmast & Shah Abdul Latif Batai. The song is about the search of knowledge and shows the earthly lose for the gain of Spiritual wisdom, by telling the incident of “Karbala”.

Opening Season 6’s many different flavors and elements, is ‘Jogi’ a song that brings the funk and groove of Western Brass elements to Qawwali. This song is sung by Fareha Perveez in Punjabi. The song is created by the Sufi poet Baba Bulleh Shah, the Qawwali showcases the female perspective of a moment in an imaginary story. Qawwali bringing to the mix the jazz and reggae feels of Western instrumentation with beat of Dhol group faintly providing the essential Punjabi Folk element.

These elements will promote and highlight our culture before the global world. Cock Studio gave an extraordinary and different identity to our music industry. And promote and made accessible for international audience.
