Fed up with detestable diets and worthless workouts?
No money to buy expensive health foods and no means to spend hours in
the gym? No matter your limitations, you don’t need to worry. We can all
live a healthier, happier life by making a few simple changes to our
everyday routines.
Drink More Water
Water makes up more than 60% of your bodyweight. No wonder it’s
important! While it’s hard to say exactly how much you should drink each
day, it’s a pretty safe bet that you’d be healthier if you drank more.
Water transports nutrients in the blood and is an essential component of
every part of the body. Drinking more cold water can even help you burn
calories!

Watch out, though, for things that dehydrate you. Limit caffeine intake,
because caffeine is a diuretic and it will make you pass more fluid.
Water intake should increase proportionally; too much sodium, alt, in
your diet can also increase dehydration. The simple solution? Eat
healthily and always carry a bottle of water – the colder the better.
Take a Walk
You don’t need to go to a gym for a good health-promoting workout. Just
step outside! Almost everyone could use a little bit more walking in
their day. It’s easy to do, too. Next time you go to the store, park in
the farthest stall from the entrance rather than the closest. Instead of
calling someone to talk at work, walk over to where they are to chat.
You could even get up now and take a quick stroll before finishing this
article!

Chew Food Slowly
The way we eat can actually effect our metabolism and health, report
scientists in the International Journal of Obesity in 2001. So take a
longer lunch break. Don’t rush meals. Do like Mom always said and chew
your food before swallowing. It will do your body good.
Take a Break From the Computer
Sitting at a computer for too long can lead to eyestrain, fatigue, and
carpal tunnel. Enough said. Get up, take a break, then come back
refreshed and healthier than when you left.

Breathe Deeply
We all know how to breathe, we’ve done it since we were born. Do you
breathe correctly? Tense, shallow breathing can increase tension and
decrease energy, affecting mood, happiness, and overall health. Sit up
straight, breathe in to the count of four, breathe out. Try to breathe
“low”, down below your chest. Don’t tense up. Repeat. Any time you start
feeling sluggish, take a few deep breaths to replenish your oxygen and
energy.
Making these five lifestyle changes is not hard, but it is worth it. And
when you’re healthier, you’re happier.
