Quaid’s Ever Shining Sayings

(Naeem Ur Rehmaan Shaaiq, Karachi)

Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan was born on December 25, 1876. Because of his all-out efforts, our beloved country came into existence. He possessed all the qualities, what a great leader should have. He dedicated his entire life for gaining Pakistan and fortunately, what Allama Muhammad Iqabal, the acclaimed poet, philosopher and above all the thinker of Pakistan dreamt, the Quaid fulfilled it. Because of his everlasting and dedicated efforts our beloved country emerged on the map of Pakistan on 14th August, 1947. Today is 25th December. Although the Quaid is no more with us, his achievements, his dedication, his devotion and above all his ever shining words are alive. We, individually and collectively, can pay tribute to our Quaid, firstly by reading and secondly by following his teachings.

We all know that the circumstances of Pakistan are getting worse day by day. We are involved so many social flaws, like corruption, bribery, lie, debasement, inflation, harassment etc. In this critical situation, we should follow the teachings of our Quaid. I, therefore, have collected some inspirational and instructive sayings of Quaid, which are mentioned below:

“Think a hundred times before you take a decision, but once that decision is taken, stand by it as one man.”

“There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen. There is a great competition and rivalry between the two. There is a third power stronger than both, that of the women.”

“No nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you. We are victims of evil customs. It is a crime against humanity that our women are shut up within the four walls of the houses as prisoners. There is no sanction anywhere for the deplorable condition in which our women have to live.”

“Expect the best, prepare for the worst.”

“You are free; you are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste or creed --that has nothing to do with the business of the State.”

“With faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve.”

“If we want to make this great State of Pakistan happy and prosperous, we should wholly and solely concentrate on the well-being of the people, and especially of the masses and the poor.”

“My guiding principle will be justice and complete impartiality, and I am sure that with your support and co-operation, I can look forward to Pakistan becoming one of the greatest Nations of the world.”

“You have asked me to give you a message. What message can I give you? We have got the great message in the Quran for our guidance and enlightenment.”

“In our solidarity, unity and discipline lie the strength, power and sanction behind us to carry on this fight successfully. No sacrifice should be considered too great….”

“Grave political issues cannot be settled by the cult of the knife, or by gangsterism. There are parties and parties, but the difference between them cannot be resolved by attacks on Party leaders. Nor can political views by altered by the threats of violence.”

“If you will work in co-operation, forgetting the past, burying the hatchet, you are bound to succeed.”

“One of the biggest curses from which India is suffering - I do not say that other countries are free from it, but I think our condition is much worse - is bribery and corruption. That really is a poison.”

“It is only with united effort and faith in our destiny that we shall be able to translate the Pakistan of our dreams into reality.”

“I have full faith in my people that they will rise to every occasion worthy of our past Islamic history, glory and traditions.”

Today, as usual, our intelligent personalities will argue about the Quaid’s vision. Some will declare him secular and other will stress his Islamic inclination, but will never try to spread and promote Quaid’s real teachings. At last, 25th December will pass with another indecisive theological dispute.
