President PM Chair meeting of PPP senior leadership; current situation reviewed.

The senior leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party at its meeting in Islamabad has reviewed the current situation in the country and discussed ways and means of coping with the various challenges faced by the party and the government. Co Chairman Pakistan peoples Party President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani jointly chaired the meeting. Briefing about the meeting spokesperson to the President Farhatullah babar said it called upon the Prime Minister to urgently take appropriate decisions aimed at giving relief to the people. The Prime Minister also briefed the meeting on the policy of reconciliation and upcoming legislation in the parliament. He said the party and government believe in resolving all the issues through negotiations and reconciliation while taking along all the political forces. Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said it is the endeavour of the government to build consensus around major legislative initiatives and this policy will continue. The meeting also discussed coalition matters and appreciated the support extended to the government and the party by all the allied parties. It reiterated confidence in the leadership of Co Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
